Chevy Celebrates America’s 250th With the Stars & Steel Silverado

Back when the United States was founded in 1776, a horse-drawn carriage represented the pinnacle of personal transportation. Things have certainly changed over the last 250 years, with the former British colony growing into a standalone superpower and the humble carriage making way for the gas, hybrid, and EV models of today.

As America approaches its Semiquincentennial, Chevy is celebrating the country that’s brought it so much success with the introduction of five Star & Steel Special Edition models. Unveiled at the annual Army-Navy football game in late 2025, the Stars & Steel Special Edition sees five of Chevy’s most popular models treated to a comprehensive refresh built around flag-inspired details. What Is the Stars & Steel?

“The Stars & Steel Collection celebrates a key milestone for the country that not only served as the birthplace of our brand but has also been its home for nearly 115 years,” said the vice president of Global Chevrolet, Scott Bell. The collection includes the Corvette and Chevy Colorado, as well as all three versions of the Silverado in the 1500, HD, and EV models, which will all be proudly produced in the US.

This isn’t the first time that Chevy has used America’s birthday as an excuse to churn out some limited-edition models. In 1974, the brand kicked off the Bicentennial Era with exclusive “Spirit of America” versions of some of its most popular models. The Impala, Nova, Vega, and possibly the El Camino were all given a patriotic makeover that included a full red, white, and blue color scheme.

Chevy will take a more understated approach this time around, equipping each Stars & Steel model with a monochromatic paint job, gloss-black wheels, eye-catching “250” badges, and tape-stripe graphics inspired by Old Glory herself. The Silverado Sees Stars

Celebrate Our Heritage With the 1500

If you want to turn some heads with a bold new take on one of America’s bestselling pickups, look no further than the Chevy Silverado 1500 Stars & Steel Special Edition. Based on the Crew Cab version of the street truck-inspired RST trim, the exclusive model sees a Summit White or Black exterior paired with a Jet Black interior.

The truck’s brawny 6.2L, 420-hp engine will never be lacking in oxygen thanks to a performance air intake, and keeps its considerable power in check with a set of Brembo performance brakes that include red, six-piston front calipers. A set of 22-inch high-gloss black wheels improves the pickup’s curb appeal, and black rectangular assist steps make it easy to access the interior despite the model’s considerable ground clearance.

The Silverado’s V8 engine also allows it to put in some serious work with the ability to tow 13,200 lbs and haul nearly 2,000 lbs. Best of all, you won’t have to worry about causing any lasting damage to the bed thanks to a standard Protection Package that includes a spray-on bedliner. A soft roll bed cover protects the cargo bed from prying eyes, and Chevy’s Convenience Package II sees the Silverado graced with additional towing tech like a trailer brake controller, a trailering app, and a Hitch Guidance system with Hitch View camera.

Stars and Stripes Treatment for the Heavy-Duty Silverado

The Chevy Silverado HD is the true workhorse of the Chevy lineup, pulling up to 36,000 lbs thanks to a robust design that includes a reinforced frame, upgraded suspension, and other sturdy components. Opt for the LTZ Trail Boss trim, and you’ll be able to access the Stars & Steel Special Edition, as well as one of Chevy’s most enticing engines in the 6.6L Duramax turbodiesel. This diesel V8 is no slouch in terms of horsepower, with 470 ponies on tap, but it’s the torque that really seals the deal with the Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD, both pumping out 975 lb-ft of low-end power.

The HD’s Stars & Steel package isn’t that different from the Silverado 1500 in terms of graphics, paint, and badging, but it does give the truck a little extra off-road ability thanks to the included Trail Boss and Z71 Off-Road packages.

The spray-on bedliner and Convenience Package II also make their way to the Silverado HD, while the standard assist steps are replaced with a high-clearance design. The limited model also includes a power sunroof, the Floor Liner Package, and a few features that’ll help you take advantage of the truck’s full towing potential, including the Max Trailering and Gooseneck/5th Wheel Prep packages.

Even the Silverado EV Is Getting the Upgrade

Finally, there’s the newest, all-electric model in the Chevy Silverado EV. The EV only sees a modest upgrade when compared to its gas-burning brethren, but it does include many of the same appearance-related upgrades along with the Brembo brakes and 24-inch high-gloss black wheels. It also features the American Flag and “250” flag-inspired graphics in Satin Silver or Satin Black, like its non-electric brethren.

The Iconic Corvette Gets Stars and Stripes

The Silverado isn’t the only Chevy model that’s earned a Stars & Steel edition. One of America’s most famous sports cars will also get in on the fun. The only caveat? The Chevy Corvette stands as the only limited-run model in the Stars & Steel lineup, with Chevy producing just 250 units.

The Didn’t Forget the Colorado

The full-size Silverado 1500, HD, and EV trucks will also be joined by a Stars & Steel Special Edition of the midsize Colorado. Available on the Crew Cab-equipped Trail Boss trim, the Colorado is powered by a 310-hp, 2.7L I-4 that gives the pickup a best-in-class towing capacity of 7,700 lbs.

That’s a pretty solid start, and it only improves when you add the full Stars & Steel package. In addition to the flag-inspired stripes and “250” graphics, the Colorado will also be outfitted with the 20-inch gloss black wheels, a black exhaust tip, red tow hooks, a spray-on bedliner, and a soft roll bed cover. The limited-edition model also leverages the full contents of Chevy’s Midnight, Dark Essentials, Technology, Skid Plate, and Convenience 2 packages, giving the truck all the tech-, comfort-, and appearance-related upgrades you’ll need to celebrate America in style.
